Turn on all switches on the switchboard in the hall on arrival and turn them off as you leave. Decide early if you need the ‘Nightstore’ heaters during your stay. These two wall-mounted heaters in the main room and hallway heat during the night and release large amounts of heat both day and night. They are great in the winter but will make your life miserable in summer.
The water supply remains on all year round.
Basic food supplies are available at the BP Connect, located 5 minutes walk away. Turn left as you walk out the back of the section and away from the lake. There is also a small group of shops over the road from the BP. Here you will find a chemist/post office/takeaways/video rental/hairdresser etc. The Remarkables Shopping Centre is 15 minutes walk in the other direction. Turn in the road to the airport and then right at the roundabout. The bus departs the shelter for Queenstown at 35 mins past the hour and leaves from the O’Connell’s Mall in central Queenstown at 15 minutes before the hour. Make sure you catch the Frankton bus back. There is another loop that starts at the O’Connell’s Mall and goes in the other direction!
The Lakeland Hospital is on the way to the airport/Remarkables shopping centre.
